Cape Winelands - South Africa
  Hello Visitor,

The South African Winelands offer spectacular sceneries as well as a highly developed infrastructure and provide you with the ultimate holiday experience, especially for those who explore this miraculous region on their own.

We hope below information persuades you to book your ticket and pack your suitcases.

Kind regards from South Africa

Cape Wineland

The Winelands offer the ultimate holiday sensation, filled with scenic landscapes and historical monuments. The mountain slopes and valleys not only provide a dramatic background, but also form the ideal habitat for the wine grapes. Summer in the Cape Winelands is also synonymous with harvest season.

The Winelands region around Stellenbosch, also known as the Boland, is only one of the important wine-growing regions in South Africa dating back to the 18th century. Franschhoek, Paarl and Stellenbosch are all historically important and attractive towns and each promotes a wine route through the surrounding estates. The name Franschhoek literally means "a little corner of France". The French Huguenots settled here more than 300 years ago to escape religious persecution.

The popularity of wine has extended the traditional wine regions to the romantic town of Tulbagh in the North and along the R62 from Worcester through Robertson to Montagu and to Calitzdorp in the East. The Riebeek Valley is one of the little gems of the Winelands. It reminds so much of Provence in France: the same landscape, colours, olive groves and vineyards, the same gastronomic highlights, but its own unique charm.

plettenberg bay - the new wine region

The vineyards of the region around Plettenberg Bay offer the perfect conditions to grow grapes with wonderfully rich and intense flavours due to the similar geographic and climatic characteristics of Marlborough wine region in New Zealand. Among experts, Plettenberg Bay rates as one of the best wine regions of South Africa.

It is known especially for Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and different varieties of sparkling wine. Visitors are often overwhelmed by the marvellous nature – people say that the Garden Route is one of the most beautiful landscapes of South Africa.
