Cape Town

The little towns along the coast form the hub of the South African fishing industry, while offering some of the greatest of small town experiences. The town of Yzerfontein is well known for its mighty westerly swells, making it one of the country's prime surfing spots. The little town of Darling is easily accessible from Cape Town and is one of South Africa's foremost artist colonies and at Bird Island near Lamberts Bay, visitors have an unobtrusive viewing platform of the breeding sites of Cape gannets and cormorants.

The Cederberg Wilderness Area is located approximately 60 kilometers from the Atlantic coast and extends east of the N7 (the main artery to the Namibian border) between the towns of Citrusdal and Clanwilliam. Clanwilliam, founded in 1732 looks back on a rich history of settlers and is one of the oldest cities in South Africa. This region attracts with bizarre rock formations, lush green valleys, where citrus fruits are grown and an extensive network of hiking trails and rock-climbing.

West Coast Flowers

One of the main attractions of this region is the yearly flower season between August and October.  Springtime causes a magic transformation of this semi-desert mountain range when blazing carpets of flower splendour.  More than 3 000 species survive and thrive in this extraordinary semi-desert land of blistering extremes and mystical surprises.

It is here and only here where the world famous Rooibos Tea grows. In the heart of the Cederberg, the little village of Wupperthal with its dedicated farmer community has successfully proven that Rooibos Tea can be produced organically and under the strict rules of the Fair Trade Organisation.
