Rhinoworld

There are five species of rhinos alive. They have a strong body, short limbs and a large head with one or two horns. Two of these species are native to Africa and three to Southern Asia. Rhinos are loners but they are sometimes found in small herds. The individual animals inhabit narrowly defined areas that are marked by urine and feces. Rhinoceroses are lazy and therefore sleep all day.
At dawn these animals become active and start looking for something to eat. Adult rhinoceros have no real predators in the wild. Young rhinos can however fall prey to big cats and hyenas. Rhinos feed exclusively on plant foods and are adapted to this diet. Leaves, twigs, branches and fruits are preferred by them.
These wonderful animals can be traced up to 50 million years in the Earth's history. During this time, they made a broad evolutionary development and degree of adaptation to habitats.

Musst see!

Who wants to see and experience something, should definitely go to Johannesburg in the Gauteng province and have a look at the Orlando Towers. The disused towers of the Orlando Power Plant, which were closed down in 1998 now have been converted into the centre for adventure sports and adrenalin junkies. Power Swinging, Abseiling and Bungee jumping are available. Whom all that adrenalin pleasure is too much, can only go up to the viewing platform and enjoy the view of the city or watch the beautiful southern African mural paintings on the towers. The paintings show an excerpt of the life and history of Soweto. Who doesn't want to attend on one of the activities, can go to the Restaurants or the bars, where typical South African dishes are served, or simply enjoy the location of the bottom of the towers.

In the animal world of the lion

The lion is the second largest cat after the tiger and one of the largest land carnivores in Africa. A full- growing male lion can weight up to 190 kg. Today the biggest lion lives in southern Africa and the smallest one in Asia. The fur is sand-colored or yellowish to dark ocher. The male specimens also have long mane that is mostly dark brown, black, light brown or reddish brown. The shape and the color are the most important, because that shows the physical condition of the lion. A particularly long, dark mane is a sign of a good constitution and combat power, as the hormonal status and the nutritional status have an impact on the density and length of the mane.
Lions Live in packs, usually there are three or four males, who are in the hierarchy over the females. The lions go hunting in cool morning hours or in the darkness. The preys are mostly antelopes, gazelles, kudus, zebras and buffalos. They are not tenacious runner lke other Wildcats they reach only a modem speed of up to 60km/h, which also doens't last long. Since they accelerate quickly, they first need to creep up and than move on to the attack.
